Fantastic Flicks

I'm always happy to receive great movie (and book -- but we'll save these for another post) recommendations, so I thought I'd pass on the titles of three great movies I've recently seen.
Rabbit-proof Fence: I saw this movie on the plane coming to Australia. Excellent! The true story of three young Aboriginal girls who, in 1931, are taken from their homes in Western Australia by the government whose policy it was, at that time, to integrate Aboriginal peoples into white society. Sad but triumphant!
All the President's Men: A classic! At least in my book! But then again I've always had kind of a crazy interest in Nixon and Watergate. This is the story of Woodward and Bernstein, the Washington Post reporters who cracked the Watergate break-in story. I've seen it many, many times, and still love it!Il Postino: Recently watched this with C & G - it's one of their favorites, and I can see why. Italian with English subtitles. About Mario, an Italian postman, who learns to write poetry from the famous Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda, to whom he delivers mail. Mario then uses this new talent to woo the beautiful Beatrice! Endearing film! Beautifully done!
So tell me, have you seen any of these movies? If so, what are your opinions? Do you have any recommendations of your own?

I'm going to have to add these to my list. My room mate will love that... only because i have dvr-ed Jane Austen Master Piece Theatre movies from last January that I STILL need to watch. Wish you were here for a shut in movie weekend. Some how I think we'd really have a good time doing that.

Maybe when you move here!? ;-)

I really enjoyed All the President's Men. Haven't seen the other two. But now that they come reccommended, I'll put them on my netflix list. That's how I'm surviving while David is in school. I will watch all the girl movies and "special interest" movies that I want.

Wordplay! A documentary style film about the NYTimes Crossword Puzzle competition. We borrowed it from the library a few weeks ago and I'm still talking about it!
I saw Mamma Mia in California & actually really loved it. Made me cry.

I saw Rabbit Proof Fence a long time ago. It made me sad but apparrantly we did this with all the countries we ruled (shame on us) I also saw Mamma Mia and just loved the happiness in the music.
