Throw Another Shrimp on the Barbie!

Last week marked the end of Ravi's soccer season. But this Sat all the families and kids from Ravi's soccer team got together at the park for a barbecue. Not only did I get to visit with all of the soccer mums again, but I got to participate in my first ever Aussie barbecue! There wasn't any shrimp, but we had some really great sausages (and I don't usually love sausage all that much) that we ate hot dog style. Tasty! The rest of the food was pretty typical: veggies, fruit, cookies, brownies, an assortment of drinks, etc.

Gretel (on the right) is pictured here with Kate, one of the soccer mums, and the organizer of this great event!

Let me just take a moment here to say that Australians are some the friendliest people I've met, anywhere! Ever! From the plane ride on, super friendly Aussies have offered advice and friendship like I've never before experienced when I travel! I've had several people offer me contact cards - and we've really kept in touch via email! There have been offers of book loans, club meetings, getting together for coffee/hot chocolate, and last week I had a couple, that I'd just met!, offer to set me up on a date with one of their friends! It was totally random and completely funny! I'll let you know if it actually happens. :)
Except for the big spiders, it's pretty hard to find anything to complain about here!

Thanks, Jan! So good to hear from you! I tried to notify everyone by email when I left NYC, and when I set up the blog, but I think I overloaded the whole thing by sending to so many people (and I KNOW I sent you the email) 'cause I've heard from a few people that didn't know I'd gone "done under". Sorry about that! But so glad you found me! BTW, Happy Bday!!
