Calling All Moms...

...and that includes all of you who have ever dealt with children, or who have been children, or who still are children. :)

I need your ideas and suggestions! C & G are taking a long weekend away and I'll have all three kids for 3 whole days...just me...all by myself. I know, I know, you moms are rolling your eyes and having a chuckle at my expense. After all, YOU do this EVERY day.

And you're AMAZING!

So, PLEASE send me your great ideas (and I know you have them!) for keeping kids (particularly ages 2, 4, and 6) entertained and happy.

Thanks in advance! :)

Ah, the long weekend! The main thing is to wear them out. Try to take them out early on to let them run, and run, and run (or scooter, or bike ride--the main point is to expend energy). Have lots of snacks and water available to keep them going. Do some sort of craft or art project. Read some stories (if they have access to audio books it can give you a breather where you don't have to work and they still enjoy the story). Give them a bunch of cartons, markers, dried pasta, paper, scissors, etc.. and let them create away. Go on adventures to various outdoor places like zoos, parks, local shops... Movies? Let them help you plan out meals and shop for them, then they can help make the food (this all takes up a lot of time!). Go around looking for letters outdoors, like a scavenger hunt, and take pictures of them then compile a scrapbook from A-Z of alphabet pictures. Let them make their own books. Play board games. Dance to music. Make cookies. Make collages from cut up magazines. Help them make costumes from paper bags and then photograph them modeling the finished designs. Legos? Have them write in journals. Look up strange animals online (like piranhas), learn about them, and make a book to show mom and dad. Create special gifts for mom and dad. Learn about another country each day and eat food from that country and make one craft items associated with that place. Fashion show using strange things like oven mitts and leg warmers. Visit the pet store and talk about their favorite animals. Find time to relax! If you need more ideas, let me know.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great with them. You are such a creative and fun person. Good luck!

Welcome to motherhood! Oh, and don't be afraid (or above) putting a movie on to get a break.
