Queenstown has a reputation for being the 'Adventure Capital of the World'. A resort town, Queenstown is a centre for adventure tourism: Skiing, jet boating, whitewater rafting, bungy jumping, sky diving, mountain biking, skateboarding, tramping (hiking), and fly fishing. I briefly thought about jumping out of a plane :). Queenstown's nightlife is also very vibrant. In fact, this was one of the noisiest Halloween's I've ever spent, and I (an actual American whose holiday this is) didn't even go out.
Queenstown and the surrounding area contains many locations used in the filming of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy as well as the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Queenstown is in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island.

I flew back to Australia on a bright, sunny day. Looking out of the window I could see Milford Sound. Too bad it wasn't sunny the day I was there. :)
